A truly beautiful subject for this work. Firstly, I must say that the steamed mirror is incredibly effective. It give a muted and yet noted contrast between the subjects clear and defined image and her other, more distant, mirrored self. This makes one think of two sides of a person, just as there are two aspects to the nude; artistic and yet erotic.

The contrast in textures between the slightly damp skin, the steamed mirror and the painted skirting works nicely to detract nothing form the subject, but equally adds to the overall affect on the viewer. Having a relatively plain background draws the eye to the subject, and yet by having a mirror allows the eye to wander along with the viewers mind.

Lastly, the pose of the subject creates yet another duel meaning for the viewer. It speaks of modesty and innocence, being turned away form the viewer. This feeling is only enhanced by the assumption that the subject has recently bathed or showered, cleansing if you will. However, the playful turn of the head, the swept back hair and the hint of nipple make the view intrigued to see more. This makes the subject look as if she is willing the viewer to join her in a shared, yet secret passion. her pose might be said to be willing the viewer to erotic thought and maybe deed.
